Stonehenge - Found to be a place of healing!!

>> Sep 29, 2008

Stonehenge, the prehistoric monument located in the English county of Wiltshire is in the newz recently. Archeologists Geoff and Tim exacavated the site and concluded that it drew ailing pilgrims from across Europe for their treatement.

They exacavated many human skelatal remains from the site and researched on that. The bones are either damaged or shown signs of injuries.

The ailing people considered this to be with healing powers andit cured their injuries!!
The archeologists beleive that the stonehenge was considered similar to Lourdes, France-a shrine venerated for its supposed ability to cure the sick.

Many skulls and other bones were recovered from the site. Careful study of the teeth patterns of the skulls showed about more than half of them are from outside the stonehenge area. They also recovered two skulls that showed evidence of primitive surgery.

Based on these evidences, what else can we conclude on the pre-historical site. It sure must have some healing properties. So, people the next time you visit the stonehenge, remember this and get yourself healed of your backaches and neck-stiffness.

The following is the site map of the stonehenge and it looks like a hospital or any other cinic.

Note the diameter is 108' and this reminds me of the potential in this number as it has connection with every Indian religious proceedings.
Hmmm...*skeptical*. ;-|

The Warrior Prince

>> Sep 18, 2008

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly will soon be seen in action in front of the camera in a one-hour twenty minute-long documentary-feature that will showcase the ace cricketer's journey from childhood. Titled 'The Warrior Prince', the documentary-feature is being produced and directed by Mitali Ghosal, a sports journalist-turned-filmmaker, who struck upon the idea of making the documentary-feature on Ganguly after seeing his century at the Eden Gardens in this year's Pakistan's tour of India.
It will not be merely a showcase of his cricketing standards. But the spot light will also be on his personal life with his father, wifea and brother contributing to the documentary.
It is expected to reveal many hidden things in Ganguly's life which are not known to public!

Expecting the documentary with rubbing hands to know some more interesting facts about this cricketer. ;)

Moon halo

>> Sep 12, 2008

Did u notice the night sky on Friday(12-sep-08)?
The sky was clear and the moon was unusually bright and it had a bright big ring around it.
Yes, you read it right!
Moon had a ring around it, and i was excited to see it.

I was pondering over the cause for such a rare phenomenon. I googled for it and came to know that its called moon halo and the explanation for the same is as follows:

Moon halos are caused by tiny ice crystals that have gathered twenty thousand feet above the ground, as thin, wispy clouds. These clouds are so thin, you might not notice them at night, if it weren't for their effect on the moonlight. Incoming light rays from the moon are bent--or "diffracted"--by these ice crystals at an angle of twenty-two degrees. This means that in addition to the direct moonlight, you will also see diffracted moonlight in a circle twenty-two degrees away from the moon. Like a rainbow, this halo can even be slightly colored; red on the inside, and blue on the outside.
For more info about moon halo, click here.

And here is the interesting part:
sight.
Actually, a halo in winter doesn't have absolute significance; but during the warmer months, it usually foretells the coming of a thickening of warm air overhead; in most cases, a long, slow rain should eventually arrive in about 12 to 18 hours!!

Wow, thats indeed a great news !!

Dhoni good but Sachin is Best

>> Sep 11, 2008

Mahendra Singh Dhoni may have pipped Sachin Tendulkar to the ICC ODI Player of the Year award but Adam Gilchrist believes the Little Master is still the best batsman around.

Here on a promotional tour, Gilchrist said he does not doubt Dhoni's ability but Tendulkar is simply the best.

"Well, it's hard to compare whether statistically or in your mind or opinion. It's a big award for Mahendra to win but I would still say Sachin is the best player of recent times," Gilchrist said.

Making a comparative study of both the Indians, Gilchrist said, "Dhoni is firepower, (it's more about) his explosiveness and unpredictability. If there is anything about Sachin, it's his technicality, he is beautiful to watch and clinical whereas Dhoni is almost carefree, playing without fear that can hurt you most.

"He (Dhoni) hits some extraordinary shots that are quite unique to the game. You never see them in text books but are equally effective," said the Australian.

Gilchrist was also against rushing Dhoni into the Test captain's job even though he felt it was just a matter of time before the star stumper takes over the reins from Anil Kumble.

"Well, his time will come I believe," Gilchrist said. "There is no need to rush him in, I'm sure it's just a matter of time. He looks to me like the top character who can handle both Test and one-day captaincy, and the wicket-keeping and batting roles and the many, many sponsors he has," Gilchrist quipped.

Federer and S. Williams win US Open titles

>> Sep 9, 2008

The great news is that Roger Federer of Switzerland sweeps Andy Murray for fifth U.S. Open title. This is his 13th major title, one short of tying Pete Sampras for most men's Grand Slam tournament titles. He won the finals defeating first-time Grand Slam finalist Andy Murray of Scotland in 6-2, 7-5, 6-2 fashion. It made Federer the first player with five consecutive U.S. Open titles since Bill Tilden won six between 1920 and 1925. It made Federer the first player to win five consecutive titles at two different Grand Slam tournaments because he won five consecutive Wimbledon titles between 2003 and 2007. It gave Federer 13 Grand Slam titles, halving his deficit behind Pete Sampras' record 14. It gave Federer 34 consecutive match victories at Flushing Meadows, 35 if you count a walkover in the fourth round of the 2004 tournament.

In the women's section, Serena Williams defeated Jelena Jankovic for her third Open title, and her first since 2002. She won her finals 6-4, 7-5

She won her finals 6-4, 7-5. That gave Williams her third U.S. Open title, her ninth Grand Slam singles title and, more poignantly, her first U.S. Open title since 2002 and her first Slam title since January 2007.
A woman who at 17 won a U.S. Open and looked almost disbelieving won a U.S. Open at 26 Sunday night and commenced thoroughly hopping.

So this Serena Williams hopped and hopped and hopped, seven hops in all, her euphoria suggestive of the wait it took to attain it!

These wins really matter to both of them, as Fed is eying on regaining the Number 1 spot. Important for Serena to establish herself as a strong player as she lost in the Wimbledon to her sister.

Inflation hits 11,200,000%

>> Sep 8, 2008

Zimbabwe inflation rate is highest in the world.

11,200,000%(11core 200 lakh percentage)

India inflation rate :12.63%

In February, the price of a loaf of bread in the country was less than 200,000 Zimbabwe dollars. On Monday, that same loaf of bread cost 1.6 trillion Zimbabwe dollars.

Inflation rate is 2.2 million percent recorded in May, despite the government's price controls it reaches 12 million percent in September.

Analysts have said the Zimbabwean government's official inflation rate figures are conservative. Last week, one of Zimbabwe's leading banks, Kingdom Bank, said the country's inflation rate was now more than 20 million percent.

The economic crisis has destroyed Zimbabwe's currency and made it difficult for Zimbabweans to buy basic commodities, electricity, fuel, and medicines. Many Zimbabweans have left the country amid rising unemployment and deepening poverty.

SONY vs AUSTRALIANS

FLOP of SONY VAIO notebooks

VAIO line of notebooks, specifically the VGN-TZ100, VGN-TZ200, VGN-TZ300 and VGN-TZ2000 series are failed,

because of "irregularly positioned wires near the computer's hinge and dislodged screw inside the hinge," are susceptible to short-circuits and overheating, possibly even posing a fire risk.

SonyVAIO sold between May 2007 and July 2008 owners in Australia are affected. Nearly Up to 4,200 Sony customers could be effected (but probably aren't), so Sony are offering a free inspection and repair to anyone who purchased a TZ laptop between May last year and July this year.

Dr.Kalam speech

>> Sep 7, 2008

Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam 's Speech in Hyderabad
Why is the media here so negative?
Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements? We are such a great nation We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them. Why?
We are the first in milk production. We are number one in Remote sensing satellites. We are the second largest producer of wheat. We are the second largest producer of rice.
Look at Dr. Sudarshan , he has transferred the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self-driving unit. There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters. I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news. In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime. Why are we so NEGATIVE? Another question: Why are we, as a nation so obsessed with foreign things? We want foreign T. Vs, we want foreign shirts. We want foreign technology. Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that self-respect comes with self-reliance? I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is. She replied: I want to live in a developed India .. For her, you and I will have to build this developed India .. You must proclaim. India is not an under-developed nation; it is a highly developed nation. Do you have 10 minutes? Allow me to come back with a vengeance. Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read; otherwise, choice is yours.
YOU say that our government is inefficient. YOU say that our laws are too old. YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage. YOU say that the phones don't work, the railways are a joke, The airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination. YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits. YOU say, say and say. What do YOU do about it? Take a person on his way to Singapore .. Give him a name - YOURS. Give him a face - YOURS. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International best. In Singapore you don't throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in the stores. YOU are as proud of their Underground links as they are. You pay $5 (approx. Rs. 60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of Mahim Causeway or Pedder Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM. YOU come back to the parking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurant or a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity... In Singapore you don't say anything, DO YOU? YOU wouldn't dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai . YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in Jeddah. YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in London at 10 pounds ( Rs.650) a month to, 'see to it that my STD and ISD calls are billed to someone else.'YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop, 'Jaanta hai main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so's son. Take your two bucks and get lost.' YOU wouldn't chuck an empty coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in Australia and New Zealand . Why don't YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo ? Why don't YOU use examination jockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston ??? We are still talking of the same YOU. YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign system in other countries but cannot in your own. You who will throw papers and cigarettes on the road the moment you touch Indian ground. If you can be an involved and appreciative citizen in an alien country, why cannot you be the same here in India ? Once in an interview, the famous Ex-municipal commissioner of Bombay , Mr. Tinaikar , had a point to make. 'Rich people's dogs are walked on the streets to leave their affluent droppings all over the place,' he said. 'And then the same people turn around to criticize and blame the authorities for inefficiency and dirty pavements. What do they expect the officers to do? Go down with a broom every time their dog feels the pressure in his bowels? In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the job. Same in Japan . Will the Indian citizen do that here?' He's right. We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility. We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage all over the place nor are we going to stop to pick a up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin. We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms. We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and toiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity. This applies even to the staff who is known not to pass on the service to the public. When it comes to burning social issues like those related to women, dowry, girl child! and others, we make loud drawing room protestations and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse? 'It's the whole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego my sons' rights to a dowry.' So who's going to change the system? What does a system consist of ? Very conveniently for us it consists of our neighbours, other households, other cities, other communities and the government. But definitely not me and YOU. When it comes to us actually making a positive contribution to the system we lock ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr.Clean to come along & work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand or we leave the country and run away. Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure we run to England .. When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and brought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out to abuse the country. Nobody thinks of feeding the system. Our conscience is mortgaged to money. Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a great deal of introspection and pricks one's conscience too.... I am echoing J. F. Kennedy 's words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians..... 'ASK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR INDIA AND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE INDIA WHAT AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE TODAY' Lets do what India needs from us. Thank you, Dr. Abdul Kalaam

Kahn Gone!

>> Sep 5, 2008

A sad newz for Football lovers.

German and Former Bayern Munich Goalkeeper Oliver Kahn has called it quits! Yes, he has retired from the game on Tuesday.
He played his last match for
Bayern Munich against Hertha BSC Berlin in the German first division Bundesliga football match.

Oliver, 39, has made 557 appearances in the Bundesliga for Dortmund and Bayern. He has won eight league titles with Bayern. Associated with the club, he also showed its way to win the Champions League in 2001.
He was voted player of the tournament at the 2002 World Cup for his wonderful show.

Minutes after his last match he said "Tonight was very moving for me, perhaps the most moving moment of my career. I was under pressure my whole career whereas now I just had the joy of being out there in this stadium and before these fans one last time."

In the top image, he waves at the crowd before his last appearance. :(

I can assure, everybody loves to watch him play. One of the greatest Goalie in the history of football has retired now.
We gotta take comfort from the saying "When one door closes, the other will open!"

So, lets cheer up and bid a happy adieu to him.

Adios Oliver!

Victorious
Good newz for India again!
